Kalkan - Located In South West Turkey

Families and mature couples are often seen in Kalkan as it is perfect for relaxing holidays. There are plenty of things for you to do together, so it is the perfect resort to spend some time together. From Dalaman Airport, your transfer time into Kalkan is around one and a half to 2 hours. This may seem like a long time, however you will have plenty of time to see the scenery of Turkey on your journey, as well as get an understanding for the location of your resort and the location of your accommodation within the resort. There is no beach as such in Kalkan, however there are some attractive options nearby. There are both small and large hotels available in Kalkan. The larger hotels tend to be quite modern and you will find many facilities available.

Kalkan - Plenty Of Sightseeing Excursions Available

Kalkan is home to some brilliant yacht cruises. They are very enjoyable and a great way to see some new scenery of different areas. You can also try scuba diving which is an up and coming sport in Kalkan. You can do this with full instruction and hire the equipment from a professional diving centre. Visiting the beaches nearby is popular as you can spend the day relaxing, going into the water or trying water sports. There is plenty of sightseeing to do both in and around Kalkan. You can go and visit the ancient sites of Xanthos and Letoon or even go to the Pamukkale thermal springs. There is a hidden canyon which is a brilliant site to go and see, as well as the sunken city of Kekova. There are also plenty of boat trips to go on where you may be able to get into the water.

Kalkan - Plenty Of Turkish Cuisine To Enjoy

There are plenty of fish restaurants to enjoy, especially by the harbour. Many of the local restaurants also offer local dishes which are highly recommended. There is some international cuisine such as Italian, however there is not much. There are a few bars in Kalkan with live music and DJ\'s. If you wanted a really lively night, then head over to Kas for more bars and nightclubs. There are plenty of tourist shops for you to look at where you will find plenty of souvenirs to take home. There are also many crafts available, that you will only find in Kalkan. The public transport in Kalkan is very good, with regular buses to Kas, Patara and Fethiye.

Kalkan - Beautifully Hot Sunshine

The summer in Kalkan is very hot with temperatures in August hitting 35°C. You will also see over 13 hours a day of pure sunshine. January and February tend to be the coldest months, however temperatures can still reach above 15°C. There are over 320 days of pure sunshine a year in Kalkan making it one of the most popular destinations to visit. The water tends to be very warm as well making the beach an even more popular place to go during the day. It also makes water sports a lot more enjoyable. From June until September, you are highly unlikely to see any rain in the resort. From December to February you will have around 5 hours of sunshine a day, however it can still be quite warm. There may be the odd shower but it does not often rain in Kalkan.
