Marmaris is
aptly named the "Jewel" of the Turkish Riviera. Located where the
Aegean sea meets the Mediterranean the beautiful bay is famous for its yachting
and cosmopolitan atmosphere. The harbour area is a maze of streets full of
restaurants and bars, for those wanting a "quiet" seat to view the
incoming/outgoing boats.
Marmaris is a great place for
shopping. Here you can find a wide range of products from modern shopping
centers and malls.
By
the tourism season most of the stores in Marmaris are open until after midnight.
Amongst
the many famous products that you can find in Marmaris as well as in all of
Turkey, are leather goods, Turkish carpets, jewellery, Turkish coffee, ceramic
items, Turkish delight such as Halva, Baklava, Apple tea, Lokum, Pines honey,
Spices and more.
Hint:
Make sure you drop down to the harbour area and take a boat trip.
Second
editor hint: We bought a ring from "Armatulan" Jewellery when we got
back to the UK we had it valued for insurance purposes, it was worth triple the
price we paid for it, they also never forget you, we get a christmas card every
year, nice touch.
While
you are enjoying your holiday, why not visit a few or more of the famous
Marmaris Nightclubs. Dozens of clubs are located along the marina and on Bar
Street, more are also located in the center of the city, between the old town
square and the marina. Located on Bar Street, Club
Areena is famous for its laser shows and all-night dancing. Admission is
also free. Marmaris Nightclubs offer tourists a fun party atmosphere that begins
in early evenings and continues all night long.
