Peri. Tan. S. Bartlett-Sekeroglu
Human Interest Journalist/ ESL Linguist/ P/P Writer.
Peri Tan is married to her Turkish husband, Hamit Sekeroglu. She is a qualified language linguist and professional published writer; a British lady that has both resided and worked in Istanbul for over twelve years for the higher society clientele.

Her experience in teaching covers a wide spectrum of academic fields in English language and literature, Shakespeare, poetry analysis, communication classes and memory association techniques. In addition, she tutors for more specific exams such as TOEFL, SAT, and the KPDS. For seven years she taught TOK (Theory and knowledge). Over the past years she has become a university and language school adviser, sending many Turkish students to universities in the USA and Europe that now enjoy successful careers. Two of her students have now returned from Princeton, the Ivy league university in the United States. Working for the famous and intellectual higher society of Istanbul has given her a wealth of experience. The families and professionals that she has worked for have become friends as well as respected colleagues. Being able to converse in Turkish has also given her a deeper and meaningful insight into Turkish culture.

In February 2009 she relocated to Kusadasi where she taught at the private Naci Akdogan College for two terms.

Peri Tan continues to write for various magazines abroad and occasionally works for Pigment Productions the greeting card company in the UK. For nearly the last two years she has been working with music producers; writing lyrics for songs for the artist, Simon Astley in Australia who has also released three music cd’s in the UK.

After meeting a group of rather special dolphins with their specialized trainer ‘Alex’ at Adalands dolphin park she contributes a regular column for the Turkey Herald and the Kusadasi Times to create awareness for this magical and beautiful species and the environment.

After nearly 13 years of teaching she has now decided to open ‘Trinity’ with Steve Screeton and Linda which is a group of companies dedicated to serving both tourism in Kusadasi and full time ‘Kusadasians.’

Hope you enjoy her columns and features and your comments are always welcome…

Allegro lifts Alex up to great heights...
CANCUN; a town in Northern Mexico is a far cry from the stunning setting of Adaland; Kusadasi, but one, no less breathtaking than the other.....

Alex’s team share more than just the same waters
PRESENTING... Alex’s dolphin team; in no particular order of appearance. According to Alex, without these trainers and dedicated people behind him, the dolphins and sea lions at Adaland would not be as happy as they are and so well cared for.

'Wild to friendly...'
FLIPPER, the Disney dolphin was so endearing and had everyone running out of the cinemas wanting to jump in the nearest ocean so that they could swim with dolphins. The reality of what would most likely happen if we were to really do this is very different to what we expect.

‘Dolphins become the teachers...’
Dolphins teach our students from Naci Akdogan College about the environment, their species and just how intelligent they really are...

How to speak 'Dolphin'
MOST of us talk with our hands and especially me. I would literally have to have my hands tied behind my back when I am teaching if I was told to stop it. Our hands are an entirely different form of language within its own right. If one wanted to converse with a dolphin then the language that our hands are capable of creating is nothing less than amazing...
